by Shradha Singh I am Digitally Active

Your winter elixir, brewed in only five minutes.

Jaggery or “Gud” as it's called in Hindi, is rich in iron and acts as a natural sweetener that pairs perfectly with absolutely any food or beverage.

Tea brewed with Jaggery is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. It is especially useful if you are feeling under the weather. From soothing a scratchy throat, to promoting good digestion- the benefits of Jaggery Tea are endless.

Here’s how you can brew your way to good health:

Ingredients:

  1. Tea Leaves: Tea leaves form the essence of this hot beverage, you can choose black tea leaves or green tea leaves.
  1. Jaggery: The perfect pairing with tea and also so “gud” for you.
  1. Basil Leaves: For a burst of freshness!
  1. Water: To brew
  1. Salt (Optional): To bring out the subtle flavours of the tea

Directions:

  1. Grab a small pot
  2. Fill the pot with water depending on the number of cups you are brewing.
  3. Place the pot over a flame and bring the water to boil.
  4. Add the jaggery powder and let it simmer for some time.
  5. Take the pot off the flame and add the tea leaves.
  6. Don’t forget to add basil leaves for a minty tang.
  7. Once added, stir the brew and cover the pot.
  8. Let the pot rest for a couple of minutes, so that the leaves settle and the flavour of the tea enhances.
  9. Sprinkle a few salt crystals (optional) and serve hot!
