A Comprehensive Guide to the Benefits of CRYSTEX OT-20 (Insoluble Sulfur)

by Smriti Rawat Insoluble Sulfur

Introduction: What is CRYSTEX OT-20?

CRYSTEX OT-20 is a sulfur-based, water-soluble, alkaline detergent for the removal of insoluble inorganic sulfur. It is a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for the removal of insoluble inorganic sulfur from boiler tubes, heat exchangers and other equipment containing inorganic sulfur deposits.

It is typically used to remove iron sulfide (FeS) and calcium sulfide (CaS) from boiler tubes, heat exchangers and other equipment containing inorganic sulfur deposits. CRYSTEX OT-20 removes these deposits by converting them into soluble sulfates (SO4).

Insoluble sulphur is mainly used as an accelerator and agent in the rubber industry. It allows for greater molecular adhesion and crosslinking of the rubber - this helps prevent it from breaking apart and makes it more resistant to heat, wear and tyre friction. Crystex OT 20 is the most popular insoluble Sulfur used in the rubber industry.

New Insoluble sulphur is a rubber vulcanizing agent that can be used to improve the quality of your rubber products and reduce the vulcanization defects caused by ordinary sulphur.

ADVANTAGES Of Insoluble Sulphur

  • No blooming when storing rubber — this can keep the tires’ performance intact and make them less susceptible to air-blooming over time. This prevents rubber from bonding improperly with other materials, such as its mold.

  • Insoluble sulfur has no transfer (adhesive material) from an adjacent layer to the surface of the rubber in adhesive molding

  • A reduction in scorching means that mixing and storage becomes easier.

  • A decrease in sulphur that results from a shortened curing time can help to improve the ageing properties of rubber products.

  • One of the most widely used ways to strengthen an adhesive's bond with other materials is by crosslinking them. In addition, adhesion may also be improved by using a better quality adhesive, one with higher hardness and a lower amount of sulphur for instance.

  • Insoluble sulphur remained at a maximum level of only 40%. The stability and dispersion of the product are quite high.
