by Kriben Govender Health Advisor
Milk Kefir, coconut Kefir, and water Kefir are different types of Kefir that are usually consumed in Australia for improving the overall health of the individual. Milk Kefir is processed from goat, cow or sheep milk. In addition, water Kefir is processed from sugary water or coconut water.

The process of making Kefir is still the same, while the base liquid (dairy product or sugary water) used in different types (milk or water Kefir) varies.  The coconut Kefir is made from either coconut milk or coconut water with Kefir grain. All the Kefir is processed by using Kefir “grains” that are bacterial fermentation starter. Different types of commonly used Kefir are briefly discussed in this post.

Water Kefir

It tends to have a lighter texture and more subtle taste as compared to traditional milk Kefir. The probiotic rich product is made is a similar way to coconut and milk Kefir. Plain water Kefir, just like milk Kefir, can be flavored at home using your own healthy additions. It makes a healthy alternative to drinking processed fruit juice or soda.

Many people in Australia use water Kefir differently than conventional milk Kefir. They add it to healthy desserts, smoothies, oatmeal or just as the salad dressing. If you prefer to make water Kefir on your own, then make sure you to Buy Water Kefir Grains in Australia that is low in sugar and then consider adding your own fruit juice to give it more taste, texture, and flavor. In order to flavor your own water Kefir, you should try to have the probiotic-rich drink with freshly squeezed lemon, lime juice cucumber or mint.

By combining this product with club soda or seltzer, you can even make the virtually sugar-free carbonated drink. Always look for a high-quality brand that is organic, no matter the type of Kefir you choose to consume.

Coconut Kefir

It can be either made using coconut water or coconut milk. in addition, it comes directly from coconuts and is processed and made by effectively blending coconut meat, which is the white, thick part of the inside of a coconut, with plain water. Then straining the pulp of the coconut out so only the milky liquid is left.

It is essential to understand that both types of the coconut Kefir do not contain any dairy products, so these products are ideal for someone who is lactose intolerant.

Milk Kefir

Kefir is fermented dairy products which are made from the milk of cow, goat or sheep. It contains high levels of probiotics, enzymes, folate, biotin, vitamin K2, magnesium, calcium, and vitamin B12. The nutrient content values can vary based on the cows, cultures, and region where the Kefir product was processed because the fermented dairy product does not have standardized nutrition content.
