7 Ways to Shed off Fat Around Your Waist

by Jam Dwade Blogger, Web Designer, Fitness
Waist fat is among the most dangerous types of body fat. Not only do muffin tops and love handles prevent you from wearing those sexy swimwear during the summer season, they are also a significant indicator of very poor health. And getting rid of your belly fat is quite challenging.

Saying goodbye to the extra weight around your belly takes more than a few sit-ups every morning. Simply changing a few habits can help you get started to a slimmer, healthier you.

Here’s what you can do:

1. Do some interval exercise.

Work in some cardiovascular exercise between sit-ups, planks, crunches and other abdominal exercises. Use a jumping rope, run on a treadmill or do jumping jacks for 30 seconds to one minute between each set. You’ll be able to sweat away the fat while building a solid, less flabby midsection.

2. Do not skip meals.

When you skip meals, your body raises cortisol levels which inevitably make you crave for food and store fat, especially in the abdomen. Consume small meals and snacks throughout the day to assuage your cravings and increase your metabolism to prevent your body from storing excess fat.

3. Stay away from sweets.

If you want to shed fat, skip the sweets. Gobbling down on sweet foods crashes your blood sugar levels and causes unnecessary spikes. When your sweet tooth demands for something sugary, grab some fruits like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries instead of chocolate and like.

4. Increase your vitamin C intake.

Vitamin C helps keep your cortisol levels under control. Your body also needs it to produce carnitine which is used to convert fat into energy. Eat lots of citrus fruits, broccoli, kale and bell peppers.

5. Eat healthy fats.

Health fats from avocados, walnuts and olive oil can improve satiety and increase your metabolism because they contain high doses of omega-3. Make sure to observe moderation in your intake.

6. Get enough sleep.

Many studies have proven that poor quality or not enough sleep makes you gain more weight and increases your risk of diabetes and heart disease. Make sure to get lots of good sleep so you can keep your weight and health in check.

7. Consider undergoing a non-invasive fat reduction procedure.

As its name suggests, non-invasive fat reduction does not require going under the surgeon’s knife to remove the fat, in contrast to surgical liposuction. The procedure is called cryolipolysis or body fat freezing and removes the fat around your waist by freezing away the fat cells. It is approved by the FDA and is gaining popularity in the US and UK.
