6 ways to design your kitchen on a budget

The design of your kitchen says a lot about you. So it’s important you pay attention to giving it the look that reflects your personality. However, designing the kitchen to taste can be quite expensive and time-consuming. That’s why this article takes a look at how you can design your kitchen satisfactorily even on a budget.

Here are 6 ways to design your kitchen on a budget:

1.Add or change the lighting. It is relatively easy and inexpensive to add or change the lighting in your kitchen especially when it is dim or you just simply hate the overhead fixture. You can as well change the lightning from stark and bright to dimmed and romantic, all depending on what you want; and it doesn't have to be super expensive, either. Retail stores offer loads of styles to choose from at reasonable prices.

2.Add a fresh coat of paint. A simple way to design the kitchen on a budget is to add a fresh coat of paint. This can help lighten a dark and dismal kitchen and give it a pop of colour or character without having to spend a fortune. While at it, you can add crown moulding or a nice roll of patterned wallpaper around the walls. This is an inexpensive do-it-yourself makeover that will look expensive when you’re done.

3.Add a rug.
Rug looks cute and it’s durable. It will add colour to your kitchen and make your kitchen floor more comfortable on your feet. It will also cover the ugly, laminate floors in the kitchen. And if you spill on them, you can just hose them off outside.

4.Add more space. A simple design solution could just be adding more storage space with small wire shelves. The aim is to ensure you use all the space available in every section of your kitchen, including your cabinets, and your fridge and freezer.

5.Create a splashy backsplash.
Don’t overlook the backsplash in your kitchen. It is functional, introduces colour and texture, and can add a flair of originality to your kitchen. Creating a backsplash can be easily done with a limited budget; you only need to be creative while doing this. You can as well apply copper squares, peel-and-stick tiles, or even coasters to the existing backsplash to jazz it up.

6.Hang window treatments. You can also hang window treatments above your sink to spruce up space. Endeavour to choose those that fit properly within the window which can be pulled up easily while washing dishes.

In conclusion, you should design your kitchen in such a way that’s inviting and uniquely you.
