6 Best Recipes Which Helps in Weight Loss

Who says dieting is boring! You can whip up a scrumptious meal and give it a healthy twist too! Before taking up any weight loss diet plan, remember the importance of a nutritious and balanced diet. By this we mean, the food you eat must include more of whole grains, fruits, vegetables and proteins. Also, restrict your calorie intake to 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day. Avoid fatty, oily and sugary foods as much as possible. Keeping all these aspects in mind, here are some healthy and nutritious weight loss or diet recipes that will help you lead a healthy lifestyle.

1) Low-fat paneer wrap

Prep time: 5 mins

Cooking time: 10 mins

Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

• 1 cup wheat flour

• 200 grams paneer (sliced and cut into medium-size)

• ½ tsp pepper powder

• 2 red chillies

• ½ tsp honey

• 2 tomato (slices)

• ¼ cup cabbage (grated)

• 5-6 basil leaves

• 1tbsp vinegar

• Salt to taste

Method

· In a bowl, add wheat flour, vinegar, salt and add some water to make a soft dough

· Take another bowl and add pepper powder, salt, red chillies and honey. Mix it well.

· Add paneer (cottage cheese), tomato slices, cabbage, basil and cheese. Mix all the ingredients well, then pour the vinegar mixture and again mix it.

· Take the dough and make a roti on the tawa

· Place the mixture on the roti, fold it and cut into two pieces. Serve it hot.

2) Beetroot juice

Prep time: 7 mins

Cooking time: 2 mins

Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

· 1 cup beetroots (sliced)

· 4 tbsp lime juice

· ¼ cup water

· A pinch of pink Himalayan salt

· You can also add any of these – carrots, pomegranate, mint leaves, apple or tomato

Method

· Grind beetroot cubes in a juice and blitz it

· Add 1/4 cup water and stir it well

· Pour the juice into two glasses and add 2 tbsp of lime juice and a pinch of Himalayan salt in each glass

· Stir and drink  


3) Black and white bean soup

Prep time: 10 mins

Cooking time: 25 mins

Serves: 4-6 people

Ingredients

· 2 cups of white beans (rinsed)

· 2 cups of black beans (rinsed)

· 2 tomatoes (finely chopped)

· 1 tbsp olive oil

· 1 medium-size red bell pepper

· 1 medium-size onion (finely chopped)

· 1 tsp garlic (grated)

· 1 tsp chilli powder

· 2 tbsp cumin

Method

· In a pan, heat olive oil over medium-high flame. Add onion, pepper and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until you get the fragrance. Add chilli powder and cumin; cook for 3-5 minutes.

· Add beans, tomatoes and broth. Cook over low flame for 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture begins to simmer; keep stirring for a while

· Take about 2/3 of soup in a blender and puree until soup reaches desired consistency. Combine pureed soup with the rest. Serve it hot.

 

4) Sweet potato salad

Prep time: 10 mins; Cooking time: 5 mins; Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

· 2 sweet potatoes

· 1/2 finely chopped onion

· 1 finely chopped tomato

· 1 finely chopped green chilly

· 1 tsp chaat masala

· 1/2 tsp pepper

· 1 tsp mint chutney

· 1 tsp tamarind chutney

· 1/2 lemon

· Coriander and pomegranate for garnishing (optional)

· Salt to taste

Method

· Boil sweet potato and cut it into small pieces of equal size

· In a bowl, add sweet potato, onion, tomato and green chilly. Add salt, chaat masala, pepper, lemon, mint chutney and tamarind chutney in it

· Toss it well. Garnish it with pomegranate and coriander leaves


5) Sprouts poha

Prep time: 5 mins

Cooking time: 10 mins

Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

· 2 cups poha

· 1 cup moong sprouts

· 1 medium size onion

· 1/2 tbsp oil

· 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

· 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

· 5 to 7 curry leaves

· 2 broken dry red chilli

· 1 tbsp -peanuts

· 1 tsp red chilli powder

· 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

· Salt to taste

· 1/2 tsp sugar

· 1 tsp lemon juice

· 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Method

· Keep the sprouts ready. Rinse poha in a strainer and keep it aside. Do not rinse for long

· Peel and chop onion, green chilli (if using), coriander leaves

· Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard, cumin seeds and allow to splutter. Add peanuts and saute until peanuts becomes light brown and skin starts to separate

· Add dry red chilli or green chilli, onion, curry leaves (I didn't use) and saute until onion becomes light brown and soft

· Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder mix well and cook for a min in low flame.

· Add poha, sprouts and stir gently to mix everything well, cover and cook for 2-3 mins in medium flame, stir in intervals

· Now add sugar, lemon juice and mix everything well, cook for a min in slow flame, add coriander leaves and off flame


6) Egg bhurji

Prep time: 5 mins; Cooking time: 5-7 mins; Serves: 2

Ingredients

· 3 eggs

· 1 medium size onion

· 1 medium-size tomato

· ½ cup finely chopped capsicum

· 2 green chillies

· 1-inch ginger

· 1 tsp turmeric powder

· 1 tsp red chilli powder

· Salt to taste

· 1 tbsp cooking oil

· Coriander leaves (for garnish)

Method

· Chop onion, tomato, capsicum, green chilli and ginger and keep it aside

· In a bowl, break the eggs and whisk with a fork or egg whisker. You need to whisk the eggs fast as this incorporates air inside the mixture, thus the scrambled eggs are fluffy.

· Add all the spices and mix for another minute.

· Heat oil in a pan on a medium flame, then add chopped tomato, onion, capsicum, green chilli and ginger and sauté for 30 seconds

· Pour the egg mixture slowly into the pan and let it cook for 30 to 45 seconds. Then start stirring this with a spoon. Do not leave it as it may get overcooked. Keep stirring, so it cooks evenly

· Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot
