5 Things You Should Know Before Riding a Horse for the First Time
by Shawn William Creative WriterWhen you have no basic guidelines
about riding a horse, and you have to ride the horse for the first time, it can
be intimidating and exciting. Therefore, you need someone to guide you all the
way and train you up to ride the horse safely and comfortably.
This article will try to help you
with some things you should know before horse riding in Birmingham for the first
time.
Wear Safety
Gears:
The first thing you should maintain is to wear safety gears for a safe ride.
Horse riding safety gears include proper footwear, low-heeled boots with 1-1.5
inches, a safety helmet, hand gloves, etc.
You should avoid wearing a flowy
skirt or something that interrupts your concentration in riding. Also, avoid
taking long purses, accessories, or anything that can tangle in the saddle or
reins.
Comfort the
Horse:
Before riding the horse, make a social situation with the horse. Since you are
riding an animal but not a vehicle, you should know how to handle a living
animal. Make it comfortable with your riding. If you are nervous and not
supportive, the horse can also mess up the situation.
Hold the Reins
Properly: It’s better to hold both of your reins tight if you are the first-timer
in riding. However, there are two different styles for riding a horse: Western
and English style. Western people hold both the reins in one hand; whereas,
English riders hold reins in two different hands.
Choose your style once you become a
bit comfortable with horse riding.
Get up and Get
off without Hesitation: It can be hesitating to ride on the horse even when it
holds still. You shouldn’t delay the situation and get on the horse with
confidence. Also, the same goes for when you are about to get off the
horse.
Be Confident
and Sit up Straight: You shouldn’t stiff yourself up while riding the horse.
Make yourself relieve and comfortable. Be confident with your sitting positing
and make it a straight-up position. Try not to slouch because it can interrupt
you from focusing.
