5 Factors That Can Lower Your Immunity

by Yakult India Probiotic Healthy Drink

The immune system is made to find and kill germs and viruses that try to live inside the body. When it's working well, the immune system can keep us from getting sick with germs. Several things like sleep, food, stress, and hygiene can affect how well the immune system works, and any changes in these habits can mess up the immune system's ability to work.

Stress, lack of sleep, binge eating, and poor hygiene can all weak immunity, and the effects often go unnoticed unless, for example, you frequently get sick after completing a major work or school assignment or right before a test. The following are some factors that can lower your immunity:

1. Not Taking Care of Yourself

There are many kinds of germs like viruses and bacteria all around us. If we don't care for our immune systems, these can make us sick in many ways. One of the things that can damage the immune system is not taking care of your body properly.

The best way to keep these germs away is to wash your hands often, wear clean clothes, and drink clean water.

2. Not Eating Enough Fruits and Vegetables

There are a lot of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in fruits and veggies. These can help build immunity and make you less likely to get coughs, colds, and the flu during the winter.

Fruits and veggies are part of a healthy, well-balanced diet, and many studies have shown that the compounds in them can increase the production of T cells, which are the first line of defense against all diseases.

3. Stress

Stress has a significant impact on your immune system and can result in weak immunity.  More than 300 studies confirm that there is a link between physiological stress and the body's ability to fight off common diseases.

Stress is known to cause a "fight or flight" reaction, which can change the way immune molecules are made and weaken the immune system.

4. Being Overweight

Having a bad diet or not getting enough exercise can lead to being overweight or fat. Being overweight can lower your immunity and even change how your body makes antibodies and white blood cells.

Some studies show that people who are overweight don't make enough antibodies and are more likely to get illnesses and autoimmune diseases.

5. Not Having Enough Sleep

Last but not least, sleep is something that many people don't pay attention to, even though it is one of the natural ways the body restores its defenses. The brain has all the chemicals needed to start and keep the immune system going.

Inadequate rest each night compromises the body's ability to repair itself. This makes the defense system weaker.

Conclusion

Remember that it's always possible to change the way you live. If you don't eat well or get enough sleep, you can start eating better or set a regular time to go to bed every night, no matter how old you are. Small changes you make every day can greatly impact your health and build immunity.
