1.Distinguish yourself from other candidates - This involves a bit of strategic thinking, which should be easy to carry out. As a student, you are different from others who apply to renowned universities. However, it won't be adequate to only think, "Well, I'm not from around here." Rather you need to highlight the strengths of your home culture if you are an international student. You don't need to elucidate at length, a sentence or two should be adequate to ensure that the admissions board takes note of what you're conveying in your college essay. Remember, you are a complete person with a lifetime of experiences. So, take some time to think about what else makes you different from most other students writing college application essays.

2.Write with Specific Details- The mainstay of excellent and memorable writing is to write in fine detail. The more specific your essay, the easier it will be to convince the admissions authorities that you are suitable for their institution. If you are trying to highlight that you have been a dedicated student, don't write: "I always submitted the assignments before the deadline." Instead, you write: "In high school, I came down with a terrible case of flu. Despite having a high fever and being required to stay in bed, I still finished my term paper on the possible impacts of global warming on agriculture." The latter will make a stronger impact on the admission authorities. People tend to bank on the people they remember.

3. Emphasise on college-level-  Diction Diction (word choice) is the fundamental aspect to consider while writing an essay. Your choice of words conveys a great deal about your personality, education and intellect. Moreover, as a prospective candidate, you want to reassure the college admissions board that you have excellent command over the English language. With that in mind, you should replace casual words ( like thing, nice, bad, chance, sad) with more advanced versions of them (despondent, phenomena, appalling, comforting, opportunity). You might consider looking up ACT/SAT vocabulary words and applying a handful of those into your essay.

4.Begin with an intriguing anecdote- The admissions committee only invests a brief span of time reviewing stories> Hence, it's pivotal that you keep them engaged from the start. Rather than trying to include gimmicky hook sentences, How about you share a significant moment? These mini stories attract the readers instantly and are the best way to really involve them in the story. Let the moment you share, reveal an aspect of your personality and character. Describe how it's connected to who you are today and who you will be tomorrow.

5.Use your essay to convey what your application can't- Remember that the admissions authorities will judge you on the basis of what you convey to them. So, if you don't elaborate on your experiences, they won't be able to connect the dots.

In this case, you must understand that the college application essay is just another piece of the larger puzzle. The admissions authorities prescribe way too much importance to the essay. With these tips, presenting an insightful college admission essay wouldn't be as troublesome.
