4 Times Switching Your OB-GYN Is the Right Choice

by Kevin Smith Author

Women of all ages should have a qualified physician for obstetrics and gynecology in the Woodlands. While choosing the best doctor for providing any kind of care is a personal decision, most women want a OB-GYN physician with whom they feel comfortable. Unfortunately, not every doctor meets this threshold. If you notice any of the following warning signs, it is probably time to switch to a new OB-GYN.

1. You Have Moved

Attending routine OB-GYN appointments is essential for ensuring good health. As such, you want to see a physician whose office is in a convenient location. Often, women decide to schedule appointments at an office close to their homes or places of work. Of course, if you move far from your OB-GYN’s office, you likely cannot feasibly attend appointments. Choosing a new doctor is a better way to stay healthy.

2. Your Insurance Has Changed

No woman wants to feel forced to switch doctors. Unfortunately, however, paying for healthcare is often a primary consideration in deciding which OB-GYN to see. If your healthcare plan has changed, your existing doctor may no longer accept your insurance. Unless you can afford to personally cover the cost of doctor visits, you probably must switch OB-GYNs if your insurance has changed.

3. Your Doctor Has Offended You

Healthcare is personal, and obstetrics and gynecology in the Woodlands is the most personal form of healthcare. As such, you should feel comfortable discussing intimate issues with your OB-GYN. If your doctor has offended you or otherwise made you feel uncomfortable, you likely do not feel like you are getting the best care possible. Instead of gritting your teeth to get through your appointments, finding a new physician is probably a better idea.

4. You Have Waited Forever

Doctors are busy, but they should still respect your time. If seeing your OB-GYN requires scheduling appointments weeks or months in advance, you may not be able to see your doctor when you need. Likewise, if your OB-GYN routinely makes you wait long past your scheduled time to see him or her, you may feel like you are wasting valuable time. Either way, switching to an OB-GYN who respects your schedule can likely make you feel better about your healthcare.

If you aren’t comfortable with your existing OB-GYN or your personal circumstances have changed, you may need to look for a new physician for obstetrics and gynecology in the Woodlands. With a bit of effort, you can likely find the best doctor to help you achieve positive healthcare outcomes.
