3 Things to Avoid When Hiring a Video Production Company

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

Creating a video is never easy. Characters, plot, message and lighting are only some of the things that go into production. Sometimes it is just easier to hire somebody who knows best. The question is: how do you know when someone is actually qualified? Although you can never be 100 percent sure your video will turn out right in the hands of others, here are three things to increase those chances.

Lack of Experience and References

A video production company may have experience in Utah wedding videos but that won't have any merit if they are being hired for a corporate advertisement. The real concern is if their experience is in the right category. If not, their skills could be wasted attempting to produce something not even within their abilities. Check references to see if people can vouch for them. Don't just take a company's word at face value — do some digging.

No Video Samples to Show For It

That being said, even if a company has lots of experience in the right genre, their videos may not be the right style. There is no way to tell without actually watching one of the company's past productions. Ask to see samples and make sure to view more than one. However, make sure that the video samples come from crewmembers that will actually work on your specific product. Different cameramen have different tastes and what you see is not always what you get.

Super Low Prices Are a Red Flag

Production can be an expensive process. It is tempting to go with the cheapest option in order to save money. That money may go to waste though if price is the only thing being considered. If a price is extremely low it is usually because a company is having trouble getting business in Utah or anywhere else or is on its way out of business.

Spending money on the cheapest company may still end up being a giant cost if quality is not up to par. Be careful not to be deceived by the "too good to be true" complex. Consider all of these factors when going into video production; it could save you from disappointed hopes and wasting a large amount of cash.
