3 Steps to Plan a Successful Corporate Event

by Kevin Smith Author

Whether your company has ten or ten-thousand employees, here are some tips you can implement when you want to plan a successful corporate event.

Step 1, Plan

The first thing you will want to determine is the purpose of your event. This will help you decide on a venue, entertainment, and everything else. If your goal is networking you will want to host the gathering in a place that lends itself to conversation like a restaurant, wine lounge, or hotel conference space. If your goal is relaxation and fun then you will want to host it in a place where employees and their families can enjoy the day, like a bowling alley, zoo, baseball park, etc.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to corporate social event ideas in Atlanta, GA. Just keep your budget and your attendees in mind.

Step 2, Prepare

Planning in advance will go a long way to help you stay on budget and on task. If you are planning a large event, don’t attempt to do everything on your own. You can delegate tasks to other coworkers who want to help.

Be sure to include room in your budget for invitations. If you want members of the public to attend your event you will want to spend some time organizing a marketing campaign as well. Once again the early bird gets the worm. Begin advertising and inviting people to the event several weeks in advance so they have time to clear their schedules. Double check all preparations before the big day to make sure all of your payments and reservations are settled, and keep track of receipts and communications with the venue or catering staff so you can address any issues that may arise.

Step 3, Party

Now that all of the plan and prep is done, it’s time to party. Remember to be optimistic and keep the atmosphere as one of enjoyment. If you have a negative or stressful attitude about the event it will trickle down to your volunteers and soon your attendees as well, and then it doesn’t matter how nice the event looks, if no one enjoys themselves it will not be a success.

For more corporate social event ideas in Atlanta, GA, you can look online or brainstorm with coworkers. Ask them what events they attended in the past that were enjoyable and see if you can learn from their successes. For more feedback you could send out a pre-event survey to see what type of gatherings your employees would like to attend, or have surveys available after or during the event to see what went well and what could be improved upon for next year.
