3 Sided Shower Enclosure
by Mark Roberts Marketing AssistantWhat are 3 Sided Shower Enclosures?
Well they are essentially a normal corner shower but with
an added panel of glass and fixing bracket, this bracket helps keep the
structure rigid and generally improved the structural integrity.
What you need:
2 x Glass Side Panels
1 x Door of your choice
1 x Fixing Bracket.
Once you have those items you just need to decide on what
sort of shower tray you want and you have yourself a 3 sided shower Enclosure.
You will need to make sure that the fixing bracket you have is the correct one
for the glass panels and door you have chosen.
Why would you buy a 3 Sided Shower Enclosure?
Well there are a few reasons; one big reason is that some
people don’t have the room in the corner of the bathroom to fit an enclosure,
because the 3 sided shower enclosure only needs one wall it gives you more
options as to where to place it. Another big reason is that people are now
having bathrooms without a bath, so a 3 sided shower enclosure really stands
out and becomes the focal point. So if you haven’t considered one before
hopefully this article will give you a few more ideas on how to improve your
home with some unique features.
Who make these enclosures?
The main manufacture we recommend for a 3 sided shower
enclosure would be Coram. They are designed and are manufactured in Britain at
their factory in Shropshire and their emphasis is on building high quality
British products that will last a lifetime. They also offer a Watertight
Guarantee if the shower enclosure also uses a Coram Shower Tray, this is why we
highly recommend this brand. Without a Coram shower tray the Guarantee is 10
Years
How much are they?
Typically you can get a semi-frameless Optima Enclosure
from around £400 Inc VAT and Delivery, if that is a bit too expensive you can
opt for a GB Enclosure which starts from £285 in VAT and Delivery. The
Difference between the two enclosures are that the Optima Range use 6mm Safety
Glass and are semi-frameless whereas the GB uses 4mm Safety Glass and come with
a Chrome finish.
All these enclosures require a fixing bracket to help keep the strength due to the loss of a second wall. With both the Optima and GB range a different fixing bracket is required. So if you decide to build our own enclosure make sure you get the correct fixing bracket.

I hope this article will give you a bit more knowledge when it comes to looking at different types of shower enclosures.
We will look to write more articles on plumbing or home improvements so that you as a consumer have a better understanding of what you need. Future articles will revolve around what different boilers do and what the differences are. I will also look into solar panels and how they work and the payback period on them. Not only that we can give a break down on what the costs are for an average system.
