Antrix, the commercial wing of ISRO has now completed 25 years of glorious existence. The unit has already earned an enviable reputation in the domain of commercial satellites launch and has become the global leader among the providers of such services.

The Golden Day in History of Antrix

September 25^th 2017 turns out to be a golden day in the history of Antrix that completed silver jubilee of its existence on that day. The existence has been eventful and loaded with numerous success stories in respect of satellite launch services and it is unparalleled in the entire satellites launching industry. Over the years ISRO and its commercial partner Antrix have developed a robust relationship and save an occasional deviation it has been a success story all along.

The Silver Jubilee Celebration

In Bengalru the silver jubilee celebration proved to be a platform for collaborative learning with special emphasis on satellite launching services and specific launching process like PSLV and GSLV services and success achieved by the commercial unit of ISRO in these fields. As one after another distinguished guests and speakers continued sharing their insight on the topics the remarkable achievements of Antrix in collaboration with ISRO started unveiling before the audiences. It became clear to all how the organization has massive contribution in evolution of the satellite launch services globally.

Down the Memory Lanes

It would not be out of place having a peep into the history of this remarkable organization. Till the year 1992 the activities of ISRO revolved round defense services and were yet to be commercialized. It was Professor U R Rao who pioneered the concept of opening a commercial satellites launch wing that would take care of commercial enterprises for satellite related services. The concept was based on the ideas of commercial exploitation of various space products and offering technical consultancy services. Antrix was thus set up and one of the mission was also transfer of technologies that were developed such as the PSLV and GSLV launch services and improve the capabilities of space industry in India. Since its arrival in September 1992 there has been no look back for the commercial wing of ISRO.

Meteoric Growth of Antrix

Organization that was a new born and a child in the 1990s blossomed into a lovable giant in the space products industry. Not only was Antrix one of the best providers of the world for GSLV and PSLV launch services for commercial setups but also was appreciated by all being the most cost economic service providers of satellites launching and space products in the entire world. That is why in the face of stiff competitions from the economically and scientifically advanced countries like United States, Russia, Germany, Japan, and China, India led by ISRO and Antrix has assumed the premier position in the industry today.

Scientists and employees in Antrix understand well that it is easier to reach the top than to stay on it. That is why they are on the job round the clock developing newer concepts, techniques, and making inventions consistently in the field of commercial satellites launch services.
