18 Symptoms of Gall Bladder Disease You Need to Know

by Kristen White Blogger
The liver produces an important digestive juice called bile. The bile is stored in its concentrated form in the gallbladder. It is here that it is slowly used to emulsify fats and create fatty acids. Metabolic disturbances can cause a reduction in production of bile which may result in low functioning gallbladder symptoms and causes serious health inconveniences.

 low functioning gallbladder symptoms

The sluggish production of bile is known as ‘biliary stasis.’ Gallstones build in the gallbladder and eventually it is removed because there is no medical solution to this condition.

Here are the Functions of Bile:

  • Metabolize fatty acids into bio-available fatty acids, without it fatty soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K cannot be digested.
  • Helps in the excretion of waste from the body by aiding the peristalsis process and deactivate toxins from the system.
  • The presence of bile salts helps in killing bad bacteria and preserving the good. This helps in the anti-fermentation processes.
  • Bile also helps in stabilization of the blood sugar by breaking down fatty acids for good fat metabolism.

22 symptoms of gallbladder disease

Nausea and Vomiting

When there is poor bile production, the digestive system is disrupted leading to nausea and vomiting

Fatty/ greasy Stools

Fat fails to be digested passing in the stool.

Pain between the Shoulder Blades

The nerves that innervate the liver and gallbladder pass through the right shoulder and that is where you will feel the pain.

Abdominal Pains

The inflammation of the gallbladder and the liver makes the entire abdominal area and chest sour.

Chronic Gas and Bloating

When bile is not produced enough, it leads to fermentation of bacteria which produces gas that blots and cramps in the abdomen.

Itchy skin/pruritis

Lack of bile causes an increase in autotoxin (ATX) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) which causes itchiness of the skin.

The Skin Yellowing/ jaundice

When bilirubin is not metabolized it seeps into tissues near the skin causing the yellowing.

Headaches and Migraines

When there is inflammation in the abdomen and the shoulders, there is a strain in the blood supply which leads to poor aeration of the brain tissues that eventually leads to aches and migraines.
Constipation and Diarrhea

Normal digestion fails with the lack of bile. This, therefore, results in constipation and diarrhea.

Light Colored Stools

Bilirubin in bile is responsible for the coloring of stool. When it is less or absent the stool is discolored.

Hormonal Imbalance

Sexual dysfunction, menstrual dysfunction, and infertility can be caused by the hormonal imbalance caused by lack of or reduction of bile.

The Mouth Tastes Bitter

Bile regurgitation happens after meals to cause mouth bitterness.

Fibromyalgia

This is chronic pain caused by lack or reduction of hydrochloric acid and bile.

Hypothyroidism

This comes first or before a sluggish biliary condition.

Loss of Hunger

This results from a sluggish digestive system and biliary stasis are just another cause.

Dry Skin and Hair

When fat is not well metabolized, it is also not well utilized which leaves the skin dry.

Chemical Sensitivity

You become more and more sensitive to chemicals.

Weight Loss Resistance

When fatty acids are not metabolized it causes blood sugar instability which brings in resistance to weight loss.

These low functioning gallbladder symptoms do not necessarily mean you have biliary stasis. Seek medical attention if you are suspecting this condition.
