Actualization

by Scott Cloran Security Officer
Have you found that
just about everything you want out of life requires
a level of wealth that tends to be consistently just
out of reach?

Frustrating, isn't it?

It used to be the case for me, and this is probably
true of most, that I spent my youth pretty much unconcerned
with the idea of making money. Do what you love, right?

But eventually that kind of thinking takes its toll in
the form of a growing anguish when you realize you are
not getting the things out of life that others around
you might be getting.

Is that greed? Is it selfishness? No. It's actually
just plain necessity in the end, because ultimately we
settle down, and we have to have a place to do that.
We have to manufacture an environment in which we can
raise a family.

So when you think about it that way, your "desire for
wealth and prosperity" are pretty noble and admirable
goals to set for yourself.

You might even go so far as to say, as Gordon Gekko
does in the movie Wall Street: "Greed is good. Greed
is right. Greed works."

Of course, this doesn't change the fact that MOST
people will never make enough money to do the things
they really want to do. They never manage to master
what amounts to the secret of how to manifest wealth
and prosperity.

Notice I said "wealth" and "prosperity".

 You Don't Want Money

Think about it, none of us really want money. We want
the things that money can buy, so we spend our lives in
pursuit of money so that we can buy them.

The trouble is, it is possible to get so focused on making
money that we lose sight of the purpose for wanting that
money in the first place. I have done it. In fact I'll
bet we all do it for at least some portion of our lives.

How many of us choose a career path just because it will
bring us a bigger paycheck, and then we end up spending all
our extra money trying to BUY the happiness that we're
not experiencing in our job?

That's not exactly a comforting idea, is it?

So what is the answer here? How do you attract wealth and
prosperity without losing your perspective and slowly
giving up on the pursuit of happiness? How do you get what
you need from life without selling yourself to the highest
bidder?

Well, I think the first thing to ask yourself is this...

What do You Really Want?

Here's what I suggest: Sit down right now and write out
everything that you want to do or want to have in your
life, and put a dollar sign next to each of these so as
the quantify the cost to make it happen.

Don't let whether you can "afford" something get in the
way of you writing it down. Just take the time to really
dream without limits and to be honest with yourself about
what you really want.

This way you'll have a concrete goal to shoot for instead
of saying: "I want to have the money to travel" or "I want
financial security" or "I want a nice house and a nice car."
These kinds of vague generalizations are nothing more than
wishful thinking, and wishful thinking inspires passivity
more than it inspires action.

Think about it this way: The more specific your target is,
the better your chances are of hitting it. By quantifying
the amount of money that you want, you'll engage your
creative imagination and your internal sense of motivation
will compel you to take action.

This is a form of self actualization. By writing down the
things you want, you are implanting a seed in your mind
about the relative worth to you of each of these things.

Conceptualization is always the first step in the
process of Actualization - something your subconscious
mind will move towards once you seed it with your
conscious desires.

Just remember that as soon as you know how much money you
need to have in order to get the things that you want from
life, focus again on what you want. The more you do this,
the greater your desire will become to achieve the end
result, and the more motivated you will become to develop
plans of action which will empower you to attract the wealth
and prosperity you desire.

All the best,
Scott Cloran
