Network Blogging tactics

by Mark Hultgren Wordpress Specialist Almost everyone knows that Blogging is still a HUGE marketing method (even with all the buzz about mobile). If you don't already have a blog, you really need to think about getting one started (if you are attempting to market anything online!).

 Why do I say this? There are several reasons but I will just touch on the top three.

1. Search Engines LOVE blogs! Blogs were originally created to allow the owner or members to update them frequently. This means new content added (hopefully on a regular basis) and the SE's LOVE new content! Once you establish a pattern of regular posting, you can almost guarantee the SE's will keep returning to your blog to index all your new content! The more regular you post, the higher the frequency of the SE robots.

2. Blogs are easy to customize and maintain. If you are using Wordpress, you can install your own blog in about 5 seconds (using Cpanel and Fantastico). Of course, you will need your own hosting to do this along with a domain name. Wordpress has literally thousands of "plugins" (small code add-ins that enhance the functionality or Wordpress) that can make running a Blog easy and provide you with tools you need to get up and running quickly.

3. Wordpress (and other blog platforms like Joomla and Drupal) have plugins and add-ons available that will allow people with Mobile Phones access to your content giving you the best of both worlds! After all, there are roughly 5 times the number of mobile phone  users in the world as there are people with computers. Plus, the mobile crowd is exactly that, Mobile. By allowing the mobile crowd access to your content even when they are NOT at a computer, you increase the opportunity to increase your sales and/or your mailing list.

 So those three items should be enough to get you to want your own blog, but do you have a hosting account? How about a domain to install a blog on? No to either of these stops you dead in your tracks. Of course, you can purchase either (both would be required though at a price of anywhere from $30 to upwards of $200 if you opt in for a multi-year option.
