Ans: – A Professional manager is a Person who Possess degree or diploma
in the field of management.
Q2: - How does professional manager differ form other professional?
Ans: - For other professional, they do ‘not need to possess any degree or
diploma. They may be called as a Professional when they gained
necessary knowledge and skills through experience.
Q3: – Explain the characteristics of a professional manager or director manager?
Ans: – (i) He must obtain degree or diploma.
(ii) He must be concerned with any organization or a company with
which he works.
(iii) He should follow the rules and regulation of the Company to
achieve its goal.
4. He must use all the resources i.e. man, money, machinery,
material etc efficiently and effectively.

“Responsibility and Performance help in defining a manager’s role?†Explain.
Ans: – Following are the tasks of a manager: -
(i) Providing purposeful Direction to the firm:-
A Manager can be moved in the right if objectives are clearly defined so that all the activities will be performed smoothly.
(ii) Managing Survival and growth:-
A Manager needs to consider two factors to ensure survival
and growth.
(a) Internal Factors: - These factors are internal to the Firm and can
easily be controlled such as efficiency of Labour, Financial
resources, managerial talent etc.
2. External Factors:- These factors are external to the firm and
can not easily be controlled such as:-
# Govt. policy
# Change in the Preferences of Customers.
# Competitors
# Attitudes and Values.
(iii) Maintaining Relations with various Society Segments:-
It is the task of every manager that he has to maintain harmonious relationship with various societal segments such as Labour Market, Financial Institutions and the Government because every manager gets inputs from the Society such as machinery, money, Labour and Produce goods to satisfy the wants and needs of the different Society Segments:-

(iv) Coping with increasing Levels of Aspiration:-
A Manager needs to cope with increasing the needs of the
Workers. They must be satisfied so that the gap between managers and workers is to be minimized. They can be satisfied by giving them:-
- Responsibility - Fulfilling Self esteem-needs
- Money - Status
5. Coping with growing Public criticism & Political Opposition both Objective and irrational:-
Manager should cope with growing Public criticism and Political opposition which can only be Possible when:-
1. He performs all the activities legally.
2. He should give proper information to the Political Parties so that the firm may go for right direction.
3. He should not show the high Profile of the company.
6. Coping with growing Technological sophistication:-
As Technology is changed very fast in a dynamic environment.
For Example: - A computer Plays an important role in this regards to help the manager by getting up to date information so as to facilitate / make his decision. So a manager needs to adopt new techniques for Production.
7. Postponing managerial obsolescence:-
It is the responsibility of manager not to postpone the managerial obsolescence. For this purpose training programmes are introduced for increasing the knowledge, skills and talents so that manager can easily face knowledge obsolescence.
For Example: - Aerospace companies have redesigned the Job contents of a manager as it designates its senior engineering managers as consultant to its young engineers groups.
8. Maintaining Balance between creativity and conformity:-
It is the task of every manager to maintain proper balance between creativity and conformity. It is easy to develop a new idea for introducing a product but difficult to translate this idea but it required different exports and detailed planning but manager can easily Solve this Problem by using advertisement agency as it provides creative people, Copy writers and art director for the successful development of an idea.
