Tip 1 - Cat Litter Box - Trouble

Tip 1 - Cat Litter Box - Trouble

If you have a cat litter box that has a top part with an opening that sits on top of the regular litter box , you may be experiencing occasional problems with the cat not defecating in the litter box. Cat owners usually get this style of litter box because the contents stay inside when the cat kicks the litter around. Unfortunately not all CATS like to use these boxes due to their enclosed feeling and the quick buildup of smell inside this type of litter box.

The solution is removing the whole top part in order to let the cat use the more 'conventional' open shaped litter box. In order to help catch the stray litter use another system like placing the litter box on a larger rubber mat. That will help to catch the stray pebbles of litter as the cat exits the litter box.

Litter box and cat urination problems are the primary reason cats are relinquished to humane societies. Most of these issues can be solved easily with some advice from your vet.

As always, follow the advice below in order
to avoid the vast majority of all litter box related problems
.

- Scoop out the poop daily, and change all of the litter weekly. Cats like humans prefer a clean bathroom.

- Every cat should have their own litter box in a private and safe area in a multi - cat household.

Hi,

The only trouble I have with my cat and her litter box is that she won't use it!

It's not a problem, however, as she insists on going outside, no matter what the
weather is.

When it's really muddy outside, I wish she would use the litter box, as she trails
back in with very dirty feet. Still it's a very small problem, and I guess she's not the
only cat in the world with a mind of her own. :-)

Hi Jean,

Sounds like a normal cat to me. LOL! Never seen a cat that doesn`t have a mind of their own. I do have a cat that uses our puppy`s training pads. it plays with all 5 of our dogs, and dances like the dogs to get his treat. It eats the dogs food most of the time. He is a big lap cat that loves to cuddle.

I guess cats do about what they want do.

I was training one of my dogs to sit, and she just looked at me like I was Crazy. I turned around and the cat was behind sitting. I called him to me. When he got to me I said sit and my cat sit. He finaly taught my dog to sit. lol

Warm regards,

Ken

Hi Ken,

Sounds as if you have a great relationship with your cat and dogs.
Don't tell the dog that the cat trained it to sit though - it'll never forgive you! :-)

It's cold here today, and my cat is busily being very catlike - she's
curled up asleep in her beanbag. Lucky girl.

Cheers
Jean
