10 TIPS TO SPEED UP YOUR RHINOPLASTY RECOVERY

by COSMETIC SURGEON health care worker
You may be eager to see the effects of your Rhinoplasty in Dubai treatment right immediately, but the recuperation period is lengthy. There are steps you may take at this period to expedite the healing process and guarantee that everything recovers properly.

Is there a way to shorten this timeline? There are several things you can do to help your plastic surgery recovery go more smoothly. We give the following suggestions:

1. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DOCTOR
First and foremost, listen to your doctor's advice. You will be given detailed instructions on what drugs to take, when to take them, how to care for the surgical site to avoid infection, and when you should return for a follow-up assessment.

2. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY
From the outside, your cosmetic surgeon will be able to observe how your rhinoplasty recuperation is going, but only you will know how you're feeling.

Listen to your body, and if something doesn't seem right after surgery, talk to your doctor straight away.

3. MAINTAIN YOUR HEAD ELEVATED
Sleeping on your side after rhinoplasty is not only inconvenient; it can also lengthen your recovery period by generating additional bruising and swelling. Worryingly, it has the ability to relocate your nose. To avoid this, keep your head raised at night for the first 6 weeks after surgery.

One of the simplest methods to accomplish this is to support your head up on two or three cushions or a foam wedge. Sleeping in a recliner is also an option. If you tend to toss and turn at night, a travel pillow or rolled-up towels can help keep your head in place.

4. APPLY COLD COMPRESSIONS
Using a cold compress for the first 72 hours following surgery can help minimize swelling. Just make sure not to put the compress directly on your nose. Instead, use it on your cheeks to avoid accidently shifting any bones or cartilage.

5. GET ENOUGH REST
The congestion you feel after surgery may make falling asleep more difficult, but rest is an important component of the recovery process. Your body utilizes energy to mend itself, and obtaining a full seven to eight hours of sleep each night allows your body to replenish that energy.

 6. EAT A HEALTHY DIET
What do vegetables have to do with recuperating from a nose job? Actually, quite a bit. Eating a well-balanced diet after surgery can help you recover faster by providing your body with the nutrition it requires to restore itself. Protein is a necessary component of skin, muscle, cartilage, and blood.

A diet rich in nuts, beef, eggs, yoghurt, fish, and other protein-rich foods will assist your body in repairing the damaged tissue in and around your nose. You'll also want to make sure you're receiving enough vitamins, specifically vitamin A and vitamin C, in your diet.

Vitamin A, which is often found in dark, leafy greens such as spinach and kale, is an excellent immune booster that can aid in the fight against infections following surgery. Vitamin C aids in the regeneration of collagen, the protein that binds your skin's tissue. Citrus fruits, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli are high in vitamin C.

7. DON'T USE TOBACCO
It is critical that you stop from smoking before and after surgery, and that you avoid secondhand smoke if at all possible. Furthermore, the nicotine in tobacco products causes blood flow to be restricted, making it more difficult for your body to mend itself and interfering with your post-operative recovery from plastic surgery.

8. DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE
You will have some congestion for a few weeks, if not months, following surgery. Swollen nasal tissues are to blame for this sensation.

Resist the impulse to blow your nose, and instead consult your doctor about using a saline nasal spray to gently moisturize your nasal passages until the swelling subsides.

After 6 weeks post surgery, you can resume blowing your nose. What about a sneeze? You can't simply refuse to sneeze. Instead, sneeze via your mouth rather than your nose. It may sound disgusting, but it is preferable to harming your delicate nasal passages and lengthening your rhinoplasty healing period.

 9. AVOID STRONG EXERCISE
It takes about 6 weeks for the bones in your nose to recover after surgery in most patients. You should avoid severe exertion at this time. Even seemingly innocuous activities like stretching, lifting, or leaning over might cause nasal edoema. Wait until your doctor gives you the all-clear to resume normal activities before resuming your fitness programme.

 10.STAY AWAY FROM THE SUN
It's usually a good idea to keep your skin protected from the sun, but this is especially critical after a nose operation. Not only is your nose more susceptible to sunburn in the weeks and months following the treatment, but too much sun can also cause any scarring and edoema to worsen.
