by Jason Z. Blogger

I still remember my first date. It was an exhilarating yet full of anxiety experience. From choosing my best suit to what to do and what to talk about, my mind was popping up with lots of possible things I wanted to share and ask.

Conversations serve as a foundation to break the ice and establish a healthy relationship. If you do not want to make your date regret about choosing you, here are the 10 fun topics to talk about to reflect your interest and have a memorable time together.

When you are prepared and feel confident, things go in your favor.

1.     Accept Your Nervousness

Going for the first date is just like closing the most awaited deal successfully. Admitting your anxiety relieves your partner, and you two can enjoy a burst of mutual laughter at this realization.

The conversation matters for building a long term relationship, you and your partner may not remember each other’s clothes, but the exciting and fun conversation leave permanent imprints in mind.

Share some fun experiences caused out of nervousness to lighten the moment. Also, ask your date to tell some stories from their life. Everyone likes a good sense of humor. This way, you can make anyone, particularly your partner, like you.

2.     Be Honest and Talk about Your Background

It is the best way to know about the life of others. Be mindful that for some people, the question about age and relationship with parents is painful. If you feel that your date does not like it, avoid that.

Tell your partner how you were as a child and drove fun and excitement out of everything. Also, show your enthusiasm to know about your date. This way, you are more likely to know what sort of person you are dealing with. How they value relationships in their lives, or are they rebels?

3.     Hobbies

People with the same interests feel naturally drawn to each other. It feels great to share your hobbies with the one you like.

Imagine how you feel when you realize that your companion also loves to go mountaineering, swimming, skiing, or many other things that you like to do.

Even if it is not so, hobbies bring two people closer, and they can talk about them for long without any hesitation.

4.     Social Connections

Man is a social animal, and the world has become a global village. Talking about social connections helps to know how many friends your partner has. How sociable they are and what is their preferred way to spend their time.

It is vital to know because if one person is quite outgoing and likes partying and clubbing, and the other likes to spend time in the warm ambiance of the home, they may not be right for each other.

On the first date, you know less about each other, and it is a chance to get familiar with each other’s lifestyles and preferences.

5.     Future Plans

Unpacking your idea of a good life and knowing how and where they see them in the coming years give a closer look at life's outlook.

Telling your plan gives an idea about your intentions on how serious you are to start a family or a relationship besides craving for all fun and adventures.

You can also assess that you have chosen the right person to fall in love with and develop a connection for a lifetime.

6.     Pets and Art

We all love pets. It a light conversation starter and generates positive sentiments. Who would not like to tell some rich experience about what their cat did on a morning walk, the hilarious sentences of their talking parrot Mr. Grey or their cute dog Max?

You can make your discussion casual by showing videos or photos of pets to each other. Art reveals a lot about a person and his level of creativity. If you are creative, it will be easy for you to talk about forms of art.

7.     Tell Your Idea of Perfect Day

Every person has a different version of having a fantastic day. Some may like to pass it by lying on the beach and reading their favorite novel, and others may like to watch a popular show on Netflix.

For me, it is to go out camping with family and friends and to have a BBQ amidst soothing nature while observing the magical sunset. Ask your partner to picture their perfect day for you to help you learn about their priorities.

8.     Favorite Food

On the off chance, you have planned your date in a café or restaurant, before ordering, inquire about the food that they would like to order. Knowing it even beforehand helps you decide a place that offers the best food in your companion’s type of food.

You can also make special arrangements to add some spice to your date to make it more memorable.

Be mindful not to talk about the food you do not like; your partner may like it. Remember, everyone has a different taste.

9.     Your Dream Job

It is a fantastic topic to talk about because it combines meaning, passion, and way of life. Many are blessed to have their dream job. But honestly speaking, many do not enjoy their jobs at all. They are doing it just for the sake of fulfilling their needs.

Even if you enjoy your job, there are a few things that you may not like about it. It is an excellent deal-breaker to know about each other that money, impact, or happiness? What matters most to you and your potential spouse?

10.  What has been the best year of your life so far?

Do you want to have a reflective, thoughtful, and purposeful conversation?

Then the best way is to spill some beans about the best year of your life. What had made it the best year so far? All those things you cherish about it.

It gives a chance to share your life story.  You also get to know what matters most to your partner. But do not be proactive with your queries or brag about yourself. Listening to your companion so they can tell their side of the story is essential for you as well.

Bottom Line

The first date is about compatibility. It enables you and your date to know how good a match you are. If things are not going the way you wanted, do not force them.
