by Nicholas H. Online marketing expert

1. Put out the sign-up form

Whether you’re at an exhibition of trade, local community event or in your own shop or storefront, collecting visitors email addresses in person can be very easy by putting out a signup form and encouraging people to give out their information or join your email list.

2. Leverage sharing business cards

When you meet new people face to face in meeting or for any reason, you may ask for their business card and offer your card. Set a nice glass bowl on the counter in your shop or store or the office reception desk, and ask your visitors to drop their cards in the bowl. Offer some free gifts or incentive to do so — a free complement or service or a pen or gift card, etc. add an attractive offer on the back of your visiting card that encourages visitors and people to sign up to receive your offer emails.

3. Host a local event

Stage an event in your area — lunch meet gathering, topic speech or talk, book club or whatever works to get many local people in the door. Send invitations to nearby businesses, post the invitation in notice board on your front door, and advertise in newspapers or local media. You may ask people to book seat with their email addresses.

4. Invite people to ‘join your new club’

Offer an auspicious occasion birthday or anniversary joy club that allows people to “join” by providing their email, address and relevant occasion date. Reward them with some attractive special offer for joining, signing up, and follow them up with something else really special, such as a gift card or discount coupon, on their birthday or holiday or anniversary date.

5. Organize a giveaway

Buy email lists online and send your offer emails, cold emails to sign up for your future discount, offers, newsletter. Give the email list subscribers something valuable.

6. Collect emails with direct mail

Sometimes you may have a postal address or mailing list but no email address. In such case, send a direct-mail with your offer and they may get the offer by visiting your website and joining your email list.

7. Try telemarketing methods

Most days in office, you and your employees interact with many clients, customers and potential prospects on the phone. Remember before you hang up,  ask if they would like to join for free offers on your email list. Explain them the benefits of joining your email list — for example, exclusive discount offers and cash offers only available to email list subscribers.

8. Use your website for lead capture

If someone visits your website, it is true that they’re already interested in your product or service. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to add them to your company email list. Include email capture forms on every page of your website, as well as on every pages for any popular products.

9. Build email list with your blog

Your official blog provides a wonderful way to build good personal relationship with your customers, clients and prospects — and also, importantly… to gather their email addresses. Remember always to end blog posts with a call to action that encourages your blog readers to sign up for your email newsletters. Ask your blog readers to leave comments with email and name, which you can use to send follow up emails.

10. Social media is important source

Active social media activities and participation can allow you to outreach new people and make new network connections. Make you own social media pages and put some interesting content, video or images so that people like it and share it. More visitors you get, you can get more emails from the official page.

If you do not have much time and money, you may buy email list online and start your marketing straight away.
