I live by a wild beach that is too dangerous even to swim in. The area is renowned for explosive lightning storms, so much so that the local university physics department has set up lightning poles to measure lightning.

I live in a small fisherman's cottage with my little dog. We live a rural orientated lifestyle and I spend time fishing and paua hunting. sometimes I even dive for crayfish.

• Mural painter

  Feb 1999 to Jul 2005

  I am also an artist and have worked in several art fields. I was a self contracted mural painter for many years and have painted many walls around the city including businesses, council buildings and private dwellings.

• Desktop Publishing

  Jan 2006 to Feb 2009

  After completing my diploma in computer graphics and desktop publishing I did a lot of freelance work. I also joined a new real estate business and was in charge of designing, art etc for the magazine.
