The 2025 EPFO Member Portal. Learn how to activate UAN, check PF balance, file online withdrawal claims, and update KYC details effortlessly.
For millions of salaried employees in India, the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is not just a savings scheme; it is the backbone of their retirement planning. Managed by the EPFO, this fund acts as a safety net, accumulating interest and corpus over your career.
However, navigating the Unified Member Portal can sometimes be confusing. Whether you are trying to check your passbook, withdraw an advance for an emergency, or simply update your bank details, this guide covers every service available on epfindia.gov.in in 2025.
What is UAN and Why is it Critical?
The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique number assigned to every employee contributing to EPF. Unlike your Member ID (which changes every time you switch jobs), your UAN remains the same for life.
How to Activate Your UAN
If you have just started your first job, you likely have a UAN but it isn't "active" yet. You cannot log in until you activate it.
Visit the EPFO Member Interface.
Under the "Important Links" section on the right, click "Activate UAN."
Enter your UAN (found on your salary slip), Aadhaar Number, Name, Date of Birth, and Mobile Number.
Enter the Captcha and click "Get Authorization Pin."
You will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Enter it to validate.
Success: Your UAN is activated, and a password will be sent to your mobile.
Always change your default password immediately after the first login to secure your account.
How to Check Your PF Balance (4 Ways)
Checking your EPF balance is the most used service. You do not need to visit the PF office to do this.
