Yes I want your Thumbs up!
Apsense is a social networking site that works on points. I have read a lot lately about members not doing things that they know will give away points to other members.
This is silly! (and selfish)
“There’s no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.†- Ronald Reagan’s favorite quote, displayed in the White House Oval Office
You are going to have to ask yourself – do you want the points or the business contacts.
I have made some valuable business contacts (and friends) since joining Apsense and I plan on building that circle even wider.
If you want to grow your business network here at Apsense you might want to consider doing the following routine.
>> Spend 5-10 minutes a day reading and giving thumbs up
to what others are writing.
>> Write 3 comments a day on things you have read that really
caught your attention.
>> Spend 6-7 minutes a day reviewing & writing testimonials
for member’s business centers.
>> Write at least 1 blog a week
>> Write at least 3 new posts to a group a week
>> Join groups when asked just to meet others
>> Invite your limit every day for new members to be on your contact list.
All this adds up to being actively involved. You will be amazed at whose attention you might catch and what business deals may come out of giving a little time each day to others.
All the Best
Valerie

Hi Wincer,
I believe Jenny is referring to a signature file in the comments sections. Perhaps the way to incorporate such a feature would be to have a sig file created in the profile - that sig file would be included on every post. That has been my experience in online forums - and it greatly increases the quality of content and incentive to contribute.

Hi Valerie
You are riught - we are wasting a lot of time on these discussions and everyone has gone points crazty.
I love the following point that you had in your list!
"Join groups when asked just to meet others"
Which is the whole point of joining a community. We have classified sites for the rest.
I have just had another of my heretical ideas!! . Are you listening guys? lol
If we were allowed ONE clickable singature link with our `posts (built into the system- like most social busin

Valerie, that is a great post. Gives everyone a little outline of things to do which is great. And I really like what Lifestyle said and I agree, What are we going to do with the other 3 hours we spend here. I can spend hours in here just reading and learning.

Magnificent!
Can I 'copy and paste' this text into my main group, so that everyone know what to do on apsense...? With the link to your thread here, of course (author's box..!).
Waiting for your approval or .. not; it's ok any answer I get from you, just thinking that might help a lot those who wont get here but there...

P.S.
I've learned from Eric that he doesn't signs comments with his name, for forcing people going to know who he is by visiting his profile! That's why I use only T now ; )

I guess its all one's perspective. I see threads like this as interesting discussion, sometimes humerous, and giving feedback to the administrators. That is another way of "driving" - discussing what works, what doesn't, what we want the community to look like.
Personally, I don't care about the point systems, but I do care about the community. I don't like seeing people hurting themselves, and I think many are doing just that. I agree with you Eric, as the community matures, so will its

If no one is concerned about the system - why complain about it ?
It would seem the only reason to have anything negative to say about it would be if you (anyone) were concerned about it being negative for them.
Why mention it in a negative light if it were not an issue ?
What's so wrong with peer reviews ?
APsense by name is the..... #1 Social Network .... Driven by YOU!
We are DRIVING what we want to see by voting, toping and dropping.
Sure, 20 or 30 reviews might make it

Right on Valerie. People are so focused on the points that they lose focus of what they are here for (although these systems have created some interesting discussions). The points only matter within the community. Having your blog post on page 1 under Business Blogs with 9 thumbs up is nice, but seriously... so what?
Put some time, effort and energy into creating a search engine friendly ABC (keywords other than apsense), writing blog articles, replying to articles (with keywords in mind

Valerie;
Great recommendations, the only thing I would add is to do it seven days in a row. That's what it takes to begin to develop a habit.
