Paintings, wall art in particular, can give your rooms in your home a much more open and inviting look. However, rooms full of paintings may just come across as a mish mash of colour and style rather than anything worthwhile or dedicated. The idea of your paintings is to try and create a new type of environment and atmosphere, one which actually suits your own style.

For your bedroom in particular, you want it to be the main focus of the room, really. While some prefer a minimalist style of painting, bedrooms can usually use a little livening up – other than the bed, it can be hard to find a focal point so making it a painting can be a useful selection.

Of course, choose the right artwork that suits your bedroom and your own style is quite difficult, if you have been spending time at art fairs and similar places without having a clue of what to actually pick up and buy, then keep reading for some great tips on what might suit you and your tastes best;

The Size

How large are you looking for the picture to be? Do you want it to be tall or be wide? What style are you going for?

These are the most important things – the size is not so important, really. If you are using it as the focal point then obviously the bigger the better, but if you just want to use it to create a general look and feel in the room then go for something a little bit more measured.

The Colour

Like with any design, the colour is so important to getting the finished product looking right. Remember that just because a painting looks immense at gallery does not mean it will at your home. your walls may be a different style and colour, and you find that it was the combination of both the walls colours and the artworks that made it look so good.

Is the colour really the one that suits your room best? If not, keep looking until you find the painting that brings out the type of environment your bedroom is going to be. Everybody has a different idea on bedrooms so it’s important that you get the style and perception that suits you, nobody else.

Coming up with the right types to buy paintings for your bedroom can be a trying and difficult process but it does not need to be impossible. You simply need to get a few things in place before taking anything further –you need to know your theme, and ensure the room is built around this theme so that when your picture comes in the style of it is magnified tenfold.
