Robert George Kardashian gained national recognition as O.J. Simpson’s friend and defense attorney during the 1995 murder trial. Robert earned a law degree from University Of San Diego School Of Law and practiced for about a decade. He had been in the field and practicing law for twenty years when he took on the O.J. Simpson case.
Before he and Kris Jenner divorced, they had four children: Kourtney, Kimberly, Khloe and Robert Jr. All of whom achieved fame after his death through E! cable network reality television show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Robert Kardashian later married, owner of the Gone In 60 Seconds movie franchise, Shakarian Halicki in Vail, Colorado on their Thanksgiving vacation in 1990 amongst his children and close friends. He later married Jan Ashley in 1998. However, it only lasted a short time until he finally married his fourth wife Ellen two months before he died.
As for Rober Kardashian and O.J. Simpson, the two met in the early 1970s and become close friends. O.J. stayed in Kardashians’s house during the days following June 12, 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Robert was the one seen carrying O.J.’s garment bag the day that Simpson flew back from Chicago.
Prosecutors speculated that the bag may have contained Simpon’s clothes for the murder weapon.
O.J. failed to turn himself in at 11 a.m. on June 17, 1994 and Robert Kardashian read a letter by Simpson to the collected media. The letter was interpreted as a suicide letter by those who had a chance to hear it or read it.
Simpson was charged with the murders and subsequently acquitted of all criminal charges in a controversial criminal trial. Robert Kardashian had to re-activate his license to practice law to stand by Simpson’s side as a volunteer assistant on his legal team. He sat next to O.J. throughout the trial.
In an interview with ABC in 1996, Kardashian admittedly mentioned that he questioned Simpson’s innocence saying “I have doubts. The blood evidence is the biggest thorn on my side; that causes me the greatest problems.
So I struggled with the blood evidence.”
Robert Kardashian died at the age of 59 due to a case of esophageal cancer. So are Kardashians related to O.J.? I think not. O.J. Simpson was only a close friend to the family but more so a close friend to Robert Kardashian for more than twenty years.
