So, you have your home business and it's up and running. You have the key marketing strategies in place, you know which method of social media marketing you are going to use, and you have begun posting ads and posts around the world wide web.
But, how do you know which method of marketing, which post or even which ad is generating you leads?
How do you know if you are throwing away your money on an ad or if it is value for money.
How do you know which is your best marketing post?
When I first started in Network Marketing, I happily went about posting ads, and articles without knowing which ones were generating leads or not.
What a waste of money and time....
So here's the thing, one day I heard a marketing audio lesson on the valuable art of 'Tracking your leads'.
This was just what I needed to hear, because ever since then, learning how to track your leads, and knowing how to look at your conversions really showed me how to save money.
How To Track Your Posts, Ads, Leaflets, URLs, etc
First and foremost make a spreadsheet to keep track of all the ads, posts, leaflets etc that you compile along with the code you used, date, number of leads gained and cost of advertising if applicable.
You want to know which ad is the most effective, and the only way to do this effectively is to set up a tracking sheet to monitor. Now you will need this to track your conversions and we will be going over this another post.
Tracking Leaflets / Posters / Postcards
When you are compiling your leaflets, postcards or posters, make sure that you add a simple little code near your telephone or contact details.
When your prospect calls or emails, ask them to quote the code next to the form, this will help you track where you lead came from and you can then respond accordingly.
Tracking Ads offline (Newspapers, magazines)
Depends on where you place your ads, you could use a code as above, and ask the person to respond using the code.
Tracking URL's / Blogposts
If you have a URL you are sending people to, the easiest way to track where they came from is to add the following at the end of the URL
/?t=TRACKINGCODE
The tracking code could be a reference to the blogpost or keyword or leaflet, poster, ad you are using.
So, there you go, tracking your efforts will not only help to save you money, but also your time and effort. You can quickly see what is working and what is not working. So many marketers forget to include some form of tracking in their advertising campaigns at the beginning and forfeit this later on with the wasted funds and effort used.
