LinkedIn and Hubpages are two completely different animals, it's like comparing a search engine like google to facebook or twitter, now if you compare google plus to twitter, that's a better comparison, but hubpages and LinkedIn are two completely different types of sites and should thus be seen as equals and not competitors, both will work equally well in their own way.

Both are popular and use of both increase traffic and polarity and help to increases awareness your products or increase product sale.
