William, you know what? I use to make fun of him all the time and the beginning of this year I found out he did have an impact on the internet as it stands now freely for all. He just said it wrong. I forgot where I first saw it but it did shock me a little.

I'm thinking around 1994 - BBS Systems and chat rooms, newsgroups. Wow - having dial-up was such a novelty - hardly anyone had the Internet then. Takes me back ... used to be 'chatting' meant 'typing' :) I love Google Hangouts for business meetings by video chat - the greatest tool yet! :)

Before it was called the Internet it was BBS Systems and only had text. I ran one with a 300 Baud modem on a 2 Mhz Z80 Processor with 16K of memory and a 90K floppy disk drive

Must have been 1996 onwards. I had just left the RAF and was into my 2nd marriage. I was trying to figure out how to make a website for my new offline business.

Jeffrey, that is cool...a retired army guy taught me everything about computers and he mentioned a lot of things about the internet in that same time frame. I young and only listened to half of what he was saying but when I got a bit mature I have been of and running because of him. Thanks.

The year was 1990. The means were simple with multiple platforms. Most all dial up and basically news groups that advertised a product or service. Most were Pictures and stories of fast and easy money for fortune. 95% Adult or games.
