Curation is great if used properly, it gives your viewers the comfort to find good information that they want in one place. If you throw in your own thoughts on the matter and some shock-aw you will have a busy site.
I had my nephew build me a software a few years ago to auto curate for me. It was suppose to clip a few trends from Google and 5-10 popular sites. It also would respond to the given topic with either negative or positive comments from spins of that topic.
@constance I still use some locked down sites that don't allow comments running on WordPress, but the ones that gave me trouble I switched over to static HTML that runs faster anyway. I found a nice template that makes setting them up a piece of cake and there is no database to get corrupted.
I have Akismet, but I still get spam and there is NOTHING THERE but the default posts WordPress made. In fact I just replaced another WordPress site that got hacked with a single page static wesite today.

You are given a Key code and your able to use that code on all blogs. I have all of my blogs set so that I must APPROVE comments before they are posted
I get reminded daily of my intention to try this. I set up a WordPress blog to post my curated content to and before I ever made a single post the spam started coming. I'm not sure I will ever make the next step.
@Sergio in this case Curation deals with sharing other peoples information. not simply a copy and paste but taking what someone else has written and giving them FULL CREDIT for it.. as well as a link back to where the information came from.
Matt Langer in his blog says" Stop Calling it Curation Imagine, if you will, a world in which Richard Seaver or Robert Gottlieb had stomped their feet and huffed and puffed ..."further opines "First, let’s just get clear on the terminology here: “Curation” is an act performed by people with PhDs in art history; the business in which we’re all engaged when we’re tossing links around on the internet is simple “sharing.” And some of us are very good at that! Months ago, I read a post by successful blogger Ana Hoffman, she said she hates Akismet, she recommends GASP. I've used GASP and I like it.
Her reasonsing is that Akismet considers she is a spammer, so she won't comment on a blog that uses it.
Thanks, Rieke, for the explanation, I didn't even know what curation means lol

@Rieke.. that is about the BEST explanation I have heard about curation!
Pretty much sums it up!

To my opinion "curation" is all together different to "copy and paste". See it as a summary of all the content on the web to a given topic.
Take a specific niche and 'curate' all the publications on this topic... Means to make you a specialist in this niche.
People will come to see what you've found for them and read it - handy on a single website. Much easier than every RSS.

In my opinion, only some people are able to curate or give health to another. The majority of them are false "gurus" or sth like that.
