May I suggest you go to homepage and click "contact us" at the bottom, you will get help about your pic problem

Try a real one, it should not be animated or fake. (Also not a logo)........

: I had the same problem Frank.........I did more than 5 times & had the same notification saying it approved....not sure if it is relevant but when I uploaded other images than me, it did not uploaded as profile pix though it said approved. Then, I tried with my own picture, and it uploaded instantly. I also contacted support team before I uploaded my actual picture---so not sure either if they removed any restriction & went through.

Try checking to see if the photo is the right size,and, try reloading the photo and see if that would work.
