Bitcoin was created by an anonymous person or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.

Here's what we know:

Satoshi Nakamoto published a white paper in 2008 outlining the concept of Bitcoin as a decentralized digital currency.

Nakamoto also developed the original Bitcoin software.
They remained involved in Bitcoin's development until around 2010, then disappeared from the public eye.

There's been a lot of speculation about Nakamoto's true identity, but it's never been confirmed.
