All external links should be set to open in a new tab - that's what I do on articles and blog posts on my site. That way, you keep the visitor on your site and don't lose him when he clicks that link. Internal links may be set to open in the same tab.You may add a brief notice on the page informing your visitors that all external links will open in a new tab. Here's an excellent article on the topic:

yessssss!!!! it frustrates me so when I get lost... thanks for asking the question... Just the other day I was adding touches to my website, purposefully making sure that all my links opened in a new window... I like, so I guess you like... Otherwise, have a super day and hope all are well!

| usually right click link to open in a new tab, so I can have track of my present tab in case the link is not interested I can easily close the tab and go back to link that interests me.

I usually right click links and open them in a new tab, no matter what the webmaster has them set for.

For me based on my browsing habit, it is convenient if I open then in a new tab rather than in new window. In addition, opening n tab is more organized.
