Do you prefer Dark or Light colored backgrounds on Web/Blog sites?

My preference is light colored backgrounds

I like having light colored backgrounds. It makes it easier to read, and the easier it is to read, the longer people will stay on my website and hopefully be interested in what I offer.

For text it is better light color background, for landing pages, where You need to have the fast ahaa moment, it is better to have darker colors.

can be both, it depends on what you want to present.

I personally prefer the lighter back grounds because people are more reluctant to look at what you are offering when they see something of pleasurable color...just my opinion.

Personally I do not know of any siccessful websites that use a dark background as the brain find it easier to translate a dark message on a light background than the other way round.

It all depends what you are promoting sometimes lighter colors provide a soft sell, where darker colors have a more aggressive message to the reader just my thoughts.

What do you mean by generational choice?

I guess people prefer light colored, since the most successful bloggers choose that, but I would say it's more a question of choosing colors that blend well together.
