Currently a New Yorker who is looking forward to settle down somewhere else. What do you suggest?

I am looking forward to exploring more and learn new things by settling down in a different place. I would really want you to suggest a place. Maybe a tropical place.

I think you should settle somewhere where you have friends, or family. Nothing beats having a family home. Even with a family or by yourself you still want other family and friends near you that you trust. You can hang out, do things with them, and just have that support that way your not alone.

I am also from NY & still have plenty of family and friends there. If you enjoy the outdoors, consider Cañon City, Colorado - if you Google "Banana Belt" it is the first town Wikipedia returns. I live nearby and love CC. Not crazy hot in the summer & mild winters. With a population of 17,000, It has a small town feel, but not so far off the map that you wait days for say, car parts. The mountains to the west offer Skiing (less than 60 miles) Lots of hiking, camping, fishing... You can tube the river. People are friendly, low crime, nice place. I like Trinidad Colorado (lots of artists movin' in, homes are affordable, - Pueblo Co is on my list also - somewhat bigger than the other two (310,000) it has a lot of pride and it shows. Denver, has gotten too big, too expensive. Only go for the shows. Colorado Springs is a crime-ridden, religiously fanatical, overpopulated hell hole. Don't move there, please.
