An ability to write with good punctuation and grammar. It is surprising how many websites and blogs are not taken seriously because of poor spelling and grammar. I would say that apart from the above mentioned, one would need a desire and love of writing so that enthusiasm and zeal for your subject comes across to the reader.

First of all, you need to know your subject well enough to present it in a good way and not have a lot of mistakes. Spelling errors and grammatical mistakes don't present you in a good light, but it also depends on what you're writing. Samual Clemens was a great writer but he used a lot of grammatical errors in his writing to present the type of people he was writing about.
