Our 12 hour day started with a bus ride to Siena. We visited a beautiful cathedral there and had a walk around town. We heard about the annual horse race and had free time to explore the shops and narrow streets. Then we went to a winery for a delicious lunch paired with a number of wines. Then on to Pisa for fantastic photo ops and lovely cathedrals. We did not know that the Leaning Tower had been closed for 11 years while they secured the lean to make it safe for another 100 years! Our guide, Stephan, was a super host. He filled us in on all the history of the places we visited and he was friendly, had excellent English and was funny as hell.
