Navratri Day has all the information related to festival Navratri, which is observed continuously until nine days. During these nine days of navratri many religious activities and events have been performed at home and temples. Devotees do the "Ghatsthapana" at home to start the Navratri puja on the first day of navratri. People worship nine Goddess during nine days of Navratri and keep fasting until 9 sacred days. There are many reasons too behind the celebration of Navratri.

Most of the people celebrate the Navratri on two times in a year, first time as Chaitra Navratri or Vasant Navratri in the months of March/April and second time as Sharad Navratri in the months of September/October. While very few people celebrate it four times in a year. In all the four Navratris, the most popular Navratri is Sharad Navratri which is celebrated by the devotees with huge devotion and great zeal. The other two type of Navratris are Magh Navratri and Ashad Navratri which are celebrated in the month of Jan/Feb and June/July respectively.

After the nine days of Navratri, Goddess idols, which have been decorated in the Pandals have been immersed in the river. This ritual is called "Durga Visarjan". on the same day (tenth day) one more event has been performed i. e. Dussehra - the victory of good over evilAccording to mythology, it is said that lord Rama has killed demon Ravana on the tenth day of navratri. From that time effigy of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnath has been burnt every year during the time of Dussehra.
