Z Wave Controller Connects Home Lights Together for Wireless Smart Control
by Jerry Xu ConsultantZ Wave is a popular wireless connected
network for smart home control. It is able to connect all home appliances
including lighting devices together and control them through a Z Wave
controller.
To build a network, first a Z Wave controller is required to establish and
administrate the network, it can include a lighting device such as a Z Wave
dimmer to the network or remove it from the network. The dimmer receives
wireless signal from the controller, and converts it to dimming signal to
control the connected lights.
The controller will be controlled via an APP
interface that installed on IOS/Android smart phone or tablet. You just need to
connect the phone WLAN to the controller network and then operate on the APP. You
can operate the APP to add a Z Wave dimmer to the network and control it. Also
you can add a compatible secondary controller which can control the dimmers,
and a secondary controller is still a slave, which receives signal from the primary and transmits it to the dimmers.
Max. 232 devices can be added to the network and all of them are connected.
Intelligent control is another important
feature of Z Wave. You can group the added dimmers and control individually or
simultaneously. Dimmers in sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen can be
added to different groups. 10-100m transmission distance depending on different
environments enables user to control the lights anywhere in the house. If the Z
Wave controller is connected to Ethernet, far distance control even if you’re away
from home is possible.
Schedule timer function with preset scene for
different areas and different times is an innovation that frees your hand. For
instance, in the morning when you’re out for work, you can set all lights to
recall OFF mode at the designated time. In the afternoon, when you’re home from
work, set all lights to recall ON mode or another brightness at the designated
time.
As a low power consumption system, Z Wave will always be at sleepy mode when there is no data communication and consumes no energy. Compared to traditional lighting control, it is more energy efficient. In addition, it is wireless system and does not need complicated wiring, which greatly saves installation costs and time than traditional lighting control.
