We are truly in the Golden Days of the Internet. This past Monday Facebook hit a record number BILLION users in one single day!

 

Amazing.

 

But that's not stopping YouTube from posting record numbers. According to DMR:

YouTube videos gets 4 Billion views each day!

 

6 Billion hours of video viewing each month on YouTube

 

300 hours of video uploaded eac MINUTE on YouTube

 

40 minutes is spent on YouTube per session

 

10% of U.S. small businesses use YouTube

 

 

This last stat brings us back to our discussion because it's the advertiser that pay for commercials inside these popular videos that have created millionaires.

 

It works like this:

 

1) Advertisers choose a topic (or topics) for their ads.

2) They pay Google (Google owns YouTube) to show their ads.

3) Google places the ads in the most watch channels.

 

The channels with the most eyeballs get the revenue ("to the victor go the spoils").

 

This is why smart Digital Entreprneurs will fashion YouTube channels with sticky content to cause viewers to return again and again (more eyeballs).

 

If the viewer of the ads does not click "Skip Ad" and purchases the offer at the end of the ad:

- the advertiser pays Google

- Google/YouTube pays the video creator

 

In fact, there are now so many commercials being shown now that YouTube is releasing a new subscription (paid) service that won't have ads or commercials.

 

(Hey, didn't the cable TV companies make that same promise a few decades ago?)

 

Anyway, odds are most people will still use the regular, free, service that shows ads. And, of course, that means that even more YouTube millionaires will be made in the coming years.
