If you set up a gold fish tank, be sure to remember that gold fish need more space than other fish. A ten gallon tank that is rectangular will work best. Keep in mind that koi gold fish can get larger and usually do better in ponds.

The gold fish tank should be kept out of direct heat or sunlight and should not be anywhere near a cold draft. Loud sounds or bumps can scare your fish, so it is important to keep the tank away from stereos or things that make loud noise. This can make your fish swim erratically in the gold fish tank. If you decorate your tank, be careful not to put in sharp objects as they can cut the fish. Make sure to rinse everything before you put it in the tank. Choose plants that are different in size will make your gold fish tank look more natural and will give your fish a place to hide.
