You Could Have A Level 1 Plumbing Qualification After Just Five Days At Our Training Centre

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

If you’ve long been thinking about enrolling on an Intensive Plumbing Course In The UK – perhaps as an existing tradesperson such as a plasterer, joiner or tiler who is interested in also performing plumbing tasks, or even if you are a complete beginner – YTA is no less than one of the leading training centres for precisely this type of course.

More specifically, we offer a five-day intensive plumbing course that culminates in a nationally recognised qualification, namely the Level 1 Award in Preparation for Plumbing Operations.

Why might this course interest you in the first place?

As we touched on above, you might embark on this course as a total beginner with no previous experience, or instead as an existing professional in another trade like kitchen fitting, joinery or plastering.

This course is suitable for both groups, so whether you simply wish to be able to confidently take on plumbing jobs around the home, or are eager to expand your professional capabilities to gain more work and income, you are likely to appreciate this very ‘hands-on’ training route.

So, what can you expect as a student on this course?

The course commences on Monday, and will see you initially working with and using 15mm and 22mm copper pipe and fixings, in addition to fitting isolation valves and pipe bending. A variety of fittings and tools will be used on this first day in the production of pipework.

The next day, you will be tasked with planning and installing a bathroom, encompassing such elements as the bath, taps, toilet, basin and all wastes; the bathroom will also be tested up to mains working pressure, and if any leaks become evident, they will need to be fixed.

Continuing to Wednesday, preceding the installation of the toilet will be a full strip down and explanation of internal cistern fittings and different types of flush mechanisms. Thursday, meanwhile, will be the day on which you install a small two-radiator system – or three radiators, should your skills and timeframe allow for this. This radiator system will also need to be filled up to pressure, and the air bled out.

Finally, on Friday, you will be required to plumb up a kitchen sink and hot and cold pipework. You’ll also get your first ‘job’ on this last day of the course – the task of adding a garden tap to your completed kitchen pipework.

The above, however, is just a quick summary of what is contained in this five-day intensive plumbing course in the UK; you’ll find the full details on our relevant page for this course.
