Image A first glance invariably fails to provide the most important details.  Take for example writing research paper and speeches – does the two chimes in similar tunes?  You’re first glance would probably say, “Nah... The former is a coursework, the latter the talk-work.”

Indeed, you nailed it, but not completely.  Despite such obvious difference, there are similarities between the two.  These similarities are only waiting to be discovered, if only you take a second glance, and dig a wee bit deeper.

The similarity starts with this one: theme.  Figuratively breathing life on this term, one could see it as the glue.  As the glue, it binds all other elements.  In the context of the written paper and speeches, the theme acts as the cohesive agent, the glue.
Hence, if you were to write the former and start with the introduction, body, and conclusion –this entire three will bear the theme.  As for the latter, with its greetings and points identified, the theme is also observed to stick, like the glue.

A second similarity is the conveyance or delivery of a message.  The output of writing research paper and speeches manifests the writer and speaker’s message; interestingly, it is also good at exhibiting skills.  The speaker’s ability to deliver a powerful message can easily be noticed; so is the writer’s aptitude to show how much knowledge he or she possesses.

What else could these two concepts share?  Ah, an audience; both written and spoken output is expected to be received by an audience.  The written work will have the students’ tutor, or for a field researcher, the panellists and colleagues.  While the speech will have its audience sitting in pews or inside an auditorium, listening (otherwise, sleeping).

What’s crucial with this similarity is the ability of the writer and speaker to making it (i.e., the message) stick in their audience’s head.  Often, it is where the true challenge lies for those writing research paper and speeches.  With the number of research pieces to check, how does one make his or her work outstand in the tutor’s eyes?

Such question ring close to a speaker: with the generous speeches attended and heard by this audience, how do you make this speech remarkable?  A speech writer and speaker can do such, by identifying points that will support your message.  Points could also be common day-arguments, or generalisations – of which the speaker opts to demystify.

In the design of speeches, such points are collected and placed in one outline.  Others speech writer/speakers are also very resourceful; they use well-known or short quotes to associate their points and message with validity and wisdom.  But for either research, or writer-cum-speaker, consulting on samples of pieces is advised.
