The modern day categorization of the gemstones has defined that there are only 4 precious gemstones and all the rest are considered to be semi precious. Though there are many criticisms on this categorization, but the gems counted among the precious stones are actually quite costly and precious. Diamond: Diamonds are one of the most beloved and costliest gemstones among all. These are known to be the hardest material on Earth and not only used for ornamental purposes, but are also utilized for many industrial purposes. Having almost the same properties of Sapphires, Rubies are the ones that are ruled by the mighty Sun. Importance of these in the Astrology, the astonishingly bizarre looks and less availability of Rubies make them costly.
