Work & settle in the UK, apply for UK tier-2 visa

by Overseas Careers Immigration and Visa Consultants, India |

If you are a non-EEA (European Economic Area) national and have been offered a skilled job in the UK, you may be eligible to apply for a Tier 2 visa. Here are the steps to apply for a Tier 2 visa:

Check your eligibility: You must have a valid job offer from a UK employer who is willing to sponsor you. The job must meet certain skill and salary requirements. You must also pass an English language test and meet other eligibility criteria.

Get a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): Your employer will need to apply for a CoS on your behalf. A CoS is a unique reference number that confirms your job offer and your eligibility for a Tier 2 visa.

Apply online: Once you have a CoS, you can apply online for UK tier-2 visa. You will need to provide personal details, evidence of your eligibility, and biometric information (fingerprints and a photograph).

Pay the application fee: The application fee for a Tier 2 visa depends on the length of the visa and whether you are applying from inside or outside the UK. You may also need to pay a healthcare surcharge.

Attend a biometric appointment: If you are applying from outside the UK, you will need to attend a biometric appointment at a visa application center to provide your fingerprints and photograph.

Receive a decision: The processing time for a Tier 2 visa varies depending on where you are applying from. You will receive a decision on your application, usually within three weeks.

Collect your visa: If your application is successful, you will receive a vignette (sticker) in your passport, which will allow you to enter the UK. You will need to collect your full visa within 30 days of your intended travel date.

The UK work permit visa, also known as the Tier 2 visa, allows non-UK residents to work in the United Kingdom.

To be eligible for a Tier 2 visa, you must have a job offer from a UK employer who is willing to sponsor your visa application. The employer must be registered as a sponsor with the UK government and must provide a certificate of sponsorship to support your visa application.

In addition to the job offer and certificate of sponsorship, you must also meet other eligibility criteria, including demonstrating your knowledge of the English language and having enough money to support yourself in the UK without relying on public funds.

The UK Tier 2 visa has various subcategories, including the General Visa, Intra-Company Transfer Visa, and the Sportsperson Visa. Each subcategory has its own eligibility requirements and conditions.

If you are interested in applying for a Tier 2 visa, you should consult the UK government's website for up-to-date information on eligibility criteria, application processes, and fees.
