Women-owned business grants to help women entrepreneurs grow and expand their business

Many grants and funding resources are designed to help businesses owned by women. Women-owned business grants can help you grow your business for free, as opposed to small businesses that you must pay back. These are specifically intended for women to help them launch startups, create products, purchase building, and more. Many women have been beneficiaries of grants or capital infusion from the government or private funders.   

Every month, WomensNet awards a $10,000 Amber Grant to women-owned businesses, in rotating categories. The US Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Dream Big Award to small businesses and women-owned businesses with less than 250 employees, or gross revenues of less than $20 million per year. The GirlBoss Foundation Grant is awarded twice a year to women entrepreneurs who work in creative fields, like fashion, music, art, and design. Ladies Who Launch program offers a $10,000 cash grant and six months of mentorship to grant awardees. Ms. Foundation for Women offers several women-owned business grants, and also for preventing domestic violence, and affording access to childcare, and more.   

Grants by private organizations   

Tory Burch Foundation Fellow program awards 50 women entrepreneurs women-owned business grants worth $5,000 to apply towards their business education. Women are presented with an opportunity to share their business plan with potential investors. Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) offers two low-cost entrepreneurship training programs to women veterans, or spouses of veterans. Amber Grant is available to women entrepreneurs that include $10,000 grant each month, two $25,000 annual grants, a $10,000 startup grant each quarter, and a $10,000 non-profit grant each quarter, and a $10,000 business category grant in each business-specific category. National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Scale Up Pitch Challenge gives a grand prize of $50,000 to help them bring their vision to reality. Blackstage Capital is an investment resource for investors, especially those with limited options, like women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Present a detailed plan to receive grants

Grants aren’t easy to come by, the application process can be long and intensive, and often has a long waiting period. You may find more options women women-owned business grants than at the federal level. To avail these women-owned business grants, you need to write an application, and describe why you need money, and how you are using the money. When you receive funding from the government, the possibilities for you to grow your business are limitless. However, grant writing isn’t easy, as you need to take into account several things, and make sure that you have a detailed plan for what you are going to do with the money.
