Women eyeglasses : Makeup tips for girls with eyewear

by Jamel Belili Consultant

For a lot of girls, eyeglasses and makeup are natural enemies. Why should you put makeup on your eyes and face, if it’s all hidden and undermined by your glasses ?

This comes as a surprise for a lot of people, it shouldn’t be the case. Specs are not a hindrance to wearing make up, quite the opposite actually. By using your glasses and makeup smartly, you can enhance the features of your face you want to bring attention to. You simply have to follow a few rules and readapt makeup basics to your women eyeglasses, to completely inverse the situation. Instead of your glasses being an obstacle to looking good, they will transform you into the most beautiful girl in the room.

1. Use makeup glasses

Our first tip is simply to use the right tools. If you need to wear glasses to see, then you also need to wear them to put makeup. How can this be done ? With makeup glasses. These kind of glasses are specifically designed to resolve this situation. They allow you to put makeup on your eyes while still wearing them. The trick resides on the lense that can be flipped from one eye to another. This way your wear it on your left eye when your putting make up on the right eye, and you inverse the lens when it’s the turn of the other eye.

2. Choose the right makeup colors

Be careful with the colors you’re using. The colors of your makeup shouldn’t clash with the ones of your glasses, and they shouldn’t divert attention from them either. This can easily happen if you’re using the same color for your glasses and eyeshadows.

Avoid black liner or dark shadows that will only make your eyes look heavier. Instead opt for some warm colors, that will brighten your eyesight.

If you’re wearing colored frames then you should coordinate them with your make up.

For example if you’re wearing red frames, try a very bright red for your lips. This way not all the attention will be directed torwards your eyes, and the combination of the two will make each other stronger.

3. Use shadows with a lighter tone

If you don’t want your eye to look to heavy, go for a lighter tone shadow, and keep it at a minimum. Neutral shades and shimmer eyeshadows tend to look good on everyone. Apply them all over the eyelid, and into the crease of the eye. If you want to, you can complement the colors of your eyes with the one of your shadows. Light brown shades work very well with brown and blue eyes, while purple shades are perfectly adapted for green eyes.

4. Don’t forget the lines

Eyeliner should be used to intensify the shape of your eyes and to make them widder.

Use your eyeliner to put a delicate line above your upper eyelashes. If you wearing a thick frame, you can go for a thicker line. Be careful to fill the tiny spaces between the lashes. Use white eyeliner on your lower water line, to give the impression that your eyes are larger. If you want to maximize the amplitutude of your eyeshight you can also use a light color pencil for your inferior eyelashes.

4. Apply a mascara with a volumizing effect

To perfectly finish your eyes makeup use a mascara that has a volumizing effect. This way your eyelashes will be bigger and will make your eyesight even more captivating. For the first coat apply the mascara just like you’re used to, from the roots to the tip. But on the second coat apply it only on the roots. It will prevent your lashes from being to heavy and hitting your glasses.

5.  Say goodbye to your eyes circles

Unfortunately eyeglasses can quickly make the dark circles under your eyes worse. Indeed the shadows of the lenses and frame tend to worsen the dark circles. To eliminate them you should invest into a concealer. It will hide the bags under your eyes, and it will revitalize your eyesight. The best tool to fight the dark circles is the yellow concealer. One last tip. If you use a  face powder, then the hue of your concealear should be brighter. This way your gaze will be more illuminated.

6. Don’t let the red marks overpower your look

Glasses tends to leave nasty red marks on the nose, which aren’t really aesthetic, Fortunately it’s easy to eliminate them. Apply a tinted mosturizer on your nose, and they will disappear. If you also use a BB cream the result will be magical. Not only there will be no red marks, but your skin will have a sliky and soft effect, with a completely even color.

7. Keep clean makeup and foundations

You don’t want the foundations of your makeup to go all over your glasses, which can make you look dirty. To keep it clean use a sponge to eliminate the excess makeup and foundations. You can also try a setting powder, it will stabilize your make up and keep it from sticking to your glasses. This way all the work you’ve done will stay in place.

As you can see eyeglasses are not an obstacle to wearing makeup. You simply have to be smart about it and apply it carefully.
