Why You Should Not Buy FitBit for Kids
by Kevin Matthews A Kenyan BloggerAlthough the so-called best FitBit for Kids are the darling of the tech press, data says that consumers do not really care. Their sales are so sluggish. A recent survey by Robert Baird and Co. found out that eighty six percent of Americans do not really have plans to buy fitness trackers for their children.
What is really the overriding problem if the press itself loves the product and the technology is there? Here are the most likely issues.
1. Fitness isn’t fun
Skateboarding, hoverboarding and playing basketball are more fun. Therefore, fitness is not fun; this is the main reason why you shouldn’t bother buying a fitness tracker for kid.
Fitness trackers are always there to measure least favorite activities. So, it will be true to say that it is not able to measure meaningful things like the fluidity of a golf swing , quality of a jump shot and measuring fun.
2. Fitness isn’t Cheap fashion
Nothing qualifies fitness trackers for under 100 as fashionable. That is the main reason why FitBit ranges from ‘’understated’’ to ‘’gaudy’’. It is bad news to fitness tracker, which is only able to measure anything you do when it is wrapped around your wrist.
We as the consumer therefore, won’t experience the product’s full potential until it can convince us to keep it on.
3. It is creepy
Most fitness trackers for children unnecessarily complicate things. Isn’t that data not being creepy? Why do we need exact step counts while simple goals are fine? I think we should move from ‘’tracking’’ to ‘’stalking’’.
4. Fitness isn’t complicated
Whenever it comes to keeping fit, there is only one approach. That is, buy a tracker and synchronize the data using your smartphone after the first week.
With the data, plot a performance in a scatterplot. Chart your progress overtime. This is too tiresome. Hence, I don’t prefer fitness trackers at all.
