by Fayeem TYCC BusinessDuchenne muscular
dystrophy or more commonly known as DMD is a disease with no cure. In this
disease, the patients show progressive weakness and muscle mass is lost. The
cause of the disease is the abnormal interference with the proteins that are
needed to form healthy muscle. There is no cure available but we can reduce the
problems of the patients. The possible options are medications, therapies, and
other surgical procedures. The muscular dystrophy is something you should be
treated with Ayurveda in the first place, considering you don’t have a complete
cure for the same. Ayurveda will help you relieve the symptoms.
Medications
The medications
include the consumption of steroids by the patient and this an have a lot of
side-effects among which obesity is at the top. But the muscular dystrophy cure
in Ayurveda is the preferred cure as this does not have any side-effect and
several months-long studies reveal that it is more effective than any other
procedure.
These Ayurvedic
procedures also remove various toxins from the body that will only be clinging
to the body if not removed. Various Asana like Tad Asana, Trikonasana,
Vakrasana may also help the patients in their condition.
The Study
A study
consisting of 10 patients was done in Northern India and out of these 10
patients, 4 were practicing yoga daily and taking the Ayurvedic medications,
the mediations were in the form of poly-herbal tablets and liquid decoctions.
The herbs included Giloy, Arjuna, Aswagandha, Brahmi, and many others.
There is also a
therapy named Shasti Shali Pinda Sweda that maintains the strength of the
muscle’s protein. These therapies herbs and decoctions resulted in improved
flexibility and mobility of the joints. Various yoga practitioners may also
suggest minimum simple aerobic exercises like walking, jogging, etc. The
patients having respiratory problems may or may not do the Pranayams suggested
